The
Fremont Communications Volunteers is a team of unpaid, communications
professionals dedicated to serving the City of Fremont, California with
public safety and emergency communications in times of disaster or
community need. We are organized under the authority of the
Fremont
Fire Department Communications Division and, in times of disaster,
operate within the scope of the Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service
(RACES) as provided for by the FCC and FEMA. As an
ARES
affiliate, we also provide communications for civic functions. When activated by the City's Emergency Operations Center (EOC), members may be assigned to carry out one or more of the following: |
| |
Staff communications posts at the
City of Fremont's EOC or one of
several public safety or government agency Field Command Centers (FOC)
located throughout the city. |
| |
Report as directed, to various
posts such as schools, shelters, and hospitals; or to field teams
involved in the City's emergency response and disaster recovery efforts. |
| |
Shadow government officials to
provide backup communications. |
| |
Provide communications support to the Red Cross. |
